Extreme Kindness

Erik's Journal

Date: Monday, November 17th 2002.

Geography: Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Point form day: Up at 8:15 -met with Catherine at 8:30 to discuss publishing a book about the tour -gathered the crew and headed out to go surfing -picked up two sisters that we had met the previous day at our 'Ultimate Spa Experience'. One sister said she had never surfed before so I said I would teach her, then we invited the other sister -we drove up the coast to Laurencetown only to run into gale force winds and hail -aborted the surfboard lesson and gave a bodysurf lesson -returned to the van frozen and then had to strap the boards to the roof -dropped the girls off headed back to hotel -went for a run and a workout -just about conked out but decided to take the rental van out and find adventure in Halifax -ended up and Anne and Natalie's house and had one of the pleasant evenings in recent memory.

Highlight of the day: Being out on the east coast it the middle of a full on storm. It was a really cool thing to be out in the water with these two girls. They were stoked. It is a pretty cool thing to be out in a haywire storm and

Most inspiring moment: Talking with Catherine this morning. She said if we wanted to write a book she would write the forward. We were all very stoked.

Shout outs: Jonny, thanks for helping me tie the surfboards on the roof. Mrs. Cummings, thanks for trusting us enough to take your daughters out surfing. Natalie, thanks for a wonderfully relaxing time.

Classic quote: "My brain hurts." -me to John as we tried to strap the boards on the roof in gale force winds as hail stuck in my hair and sand in my teeth.

My crux: This tour has been wonderfully aggravating.

Physically speaking: Ohhh, dead tired, yet, soooooooooooooo good.

Mental stimulation: It was wonderful just letting my mind relax with Anne and Natalie. Pure bliss.

Big laughs: Trying to tie the boards on the roof with John. It was so cold it was funny.
