Extreme Kindness

Erik's Journal

Date: Monday, November 12th 2002.

Geography: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Point form day: Up late after having terrible nightmares -stopped traffic and handed out donuts and coffee -went to the local radio for a interview -had lunch - headed to the Government buildings to perform "extreme fitness breaks" for stressed office workers -met the Mayor and the Premier - went for a skateboard -discovered a fantastic shop on the way back to the hotel that sells African drums. The owner, Israel, and I had a great talk -had dinner -worked.

Highlight of the day: Handing out over 600 coffees to people while standing in the middle of the road.

Most inspiring moment: Talking to Israel. Every now and then, if you follow your other senses (and your heart) you will meet someone interesting. Israel is one of these people. I was skating home from a skate and heard great music coming from a small, but beautiful shop. I walked in the door. The music was good, the smells were exotic, and the wares were interesting. Israel and I talked about the world and our places within it and I truly have to admit that I am a better person for following my heart.

Shout outs: Kevin, thanks for showing us a great time. Israel, keep the passion alive, you are putting great things into the world. Great CD. Betty, you rock! This island is lucky to have someone like you. The staff at the Best Western.

Classic quote: "Hey buddy, what cha got there buddy? Oh geez thanks there buddy." - A random PEI guy we stopped and gave a coffee to.

My crux: I get frustrated with different styles of dealing with problem situations.

Physically speaking: Pretty good.

Mental stimulation: Little.

Big laughs: Seeing Jon wipe out on my skateboard in the hallway. He did a Superman down the hall and almost ate the baseboard heater.

When I finished writing this I was: having to pee.
