Extreme Kindness

Erik's Journal

Date: Nov 8th 2002.

Geography: The subzero city of Fredericton. NB. (-12c, ouch!)

Point form day: Woke up early -radio interviews (local and CBC) -handed out cookies and muffins to cars driving in front of CBC -gave construction workers hot coffee, hot chocolate and warm cookies - handed out bagged lunches to cab drivers and to people living in the neighborhood -bussed to the downtown core and did kindness raids on the Mayor's Office, Police station, DMV, and countless other streets and shops -returned to the hotel -worked -ate the most amazing seafood feast (included within was a Lobster the size of a cat) -headed back downtown and fired up the BBQ -cooked up hotdogs for anyone that passed.

Highlight of the day: Hanging out with Dorothy, the Kindness Captain. She has fantastic energy. The stoke that she spread throughout the hotel was invaluable. Dorothy is pure wonderful. We all had a fantastically fun day mostly thanks to her work.

Most inspiring moment: Raging the downtown with about 30 people dressed in chef hats. It's times like those that just make you realize the energy that this project can create. One woman who was involved said that she was running off that natural high for the rest of the day.

Shout outs: Dorothy, and the gang. You made us feel like we were at home. Actually, you spoiled us. Thank you so much. Craig our server at the restaurant. Keep up the positive vibe.

My crux: I'm getting tired. I'm missing the ocean.

Physically speaking: I'm in good shape.

Mental stimulation: Hmmmmmm.

Big laughs: Calling Val's cel, (that had been absconded by a little kid) and pretending we were Santa Clause.

When I finished writing this I was: Hungry.
