Extreme Kindness

Erik's Journal

Date: Saturday October 26th (One of the most bizarre days of my life)

Geography: En route to and arriving in Ottawa.

Point form day: After driving alone on the dark rainy highways of Ontario until 6:00 in the morning we awoke 2 hrs later behind a industrial factory in Peterborough - we drove through Peterborough stopped for breakfast -I slept the rest of the way into Ottawa -when I awoke we had arrived at the Crowne Plaza and there was about 50 employees outside the hotel clapping and cheering. We all felt like rock stars. -about 10 minutes after we arrived we had a fantastic staff rally. There were a lot of laughs -left for the small town Munster to visit a woman named Mary and go on a Haunted Hayride -we went to an old farm filled with thousands of kids and all sorts of entertainment -returned back to Mary's house for great dinner and better conversation -drove back to Ottawa.

Highlight of the day: Waking up to all the positive people at the Crowne Plaza. Everyone there really seemed to connect to what we were doing and was beyond stoked to have us here. We have been so busy that you sometimes forget the core of the project. It is that kind of energy that reminds us that beautiful things can start from one simple RAK.

Most inspiring moment: It has been an action packed and surreal last 48hrs I would be at a loss to pick just one moment.

Shout outs: The staff of the Crowne Plaza. We have never been received with that kind of enthusiasm. Thank you. Mary, thank you for having an open heart and house.

Classic quote: "I can't handle this, I'm going to bed." -Brad at 5:00am after sleeping in the front seat for an hour and a half under the premise of keeping me awake while I was driving to Peterborough.

My crux: Sleep deprivation.

Physically speaking: Not bad although I am stoked to get in the gym. (my back has been a little sore so I am still sleeping on the floor)

Mental stimulation: REM sleep.

Big laughs: Finding out I had called the Kindness Captain, left a message, forgot to turn off the phone, and left a lengthy, and embarrassing message on her phone about Val dropping a booger on me in the middle of the night while he was asleep in bed and I was sleeping on the floor.

When I finished writing this I was: Traveling backwards.
