Erik's Journal

Date: Monday, November 15th 2002.

Geography: Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Point form day: Up at 6:30 -breakfast with Catherine Ryan-Hyde -radio drops (we had one scheduled, I got lost and ended up doing two other radio stations in the building) -press conference -hit the streets with Catherine and the hotel staff to hand out toques, scarves, cookies etc -went to Cleves a local sporting store and handed out Columbia headbands and toques -did some computer work -arranged surfboards and wetsuits from Dacane surf shop -had dinner -met up with a great woman named Shelly. Shelly is the mutual friend of my great friend Sasha. Shelly took John, Chris and myself to the Garrison Brewery for a tour with a bunch of her friends -dove downtown and ditched the Bratseth brothers -hit the sack early so I could surf the next day.

Highlight of the day: Hitting the streets with the Citedel staff. There is always magic created when you have a lot of good people doing good things. We had a lot of people on Springarden Street laughing and smiling.

Most inspiring moment: Hanging out and talking with Catherine. It was a pleasure to be able to share some of the energy that has been created through this project with a woman who has done a lot of similar work.

Shout outs: Catherine Ryan Hyde. Thanks for bringing your time, energy and intelligence to Halifax. Anne Larsass. Thanks for coming out and getting us great coverage. Monica Smith. You went above and beyond the call of duty. All the people at the front desk. (especially Neil) You made our stay 100% easier.

Classic quote: "I feel like something is slowly eating away at my intelligence." -Anne Larass.

My crux: I was frustrated that we didn't have more media coverage.

Physically speaking: I need exercise. I also have a sliced up calf.

Mental stimulation: Slim to none.

Big laughs: I got lost in the radio studio after telling everyone about the time I was in Calgary and missed the interview because I was in the bathroom.

When I finished writing this I was: Teary eyed on the Atlantic.
