Extreme Kindness

Date: Monday, November 14th 2002.

Geography: En route to Halifax.

Point form day: Up at 6:30 -wrap up meeting and goodbyes -back across the Confederation bridge -rolled into Halifax just in time to roll back out to the airport (We were on the way to pick up Catharine Ryan-Hyde, the author of Pay it Forward) -met Catharine - returned to the Citadel Hotel and had a staff rally -had a great talk with Catharine -went for a run with Chris -ate a pretty great dinner.

Highlight of the day: Meeting and talking to Catharine Ryan-Hyde. Catharine is intelligent, articulate and makes things happen. I am really excited to see how our projects could dovetail. She echoes a lot of the ideas that we have but has obviously thought them over in a different environment. It is nice to trade ideas and stoke with somebody who has spent a lot of time thinking along the same lines.

Most inspiring moment: Again, meeting Catharine.

Shout outs: Catharine. Great book, thanks for the inspiration. Monica at the Citadel. You are truly a professional. Thanks. Jonny. Thanks for hanging in there bro even when the going gets tough.

Classic quote: "We got a three horsepower car." -My exclamation to a young guy from Newfoundland as we pushed his car backwards down the street while trying to jumpstart it. (I know, I know it sounds like the opening of a joke but it actually happened.)

My crux: I'm tired.

Physically speaking: I need some sleep and some strechin'.

Mental stimulation: Talking with Catharine. It's wonderful to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about.

Big laughs: I was all over the ice at dinner tonight. I drank fermented cranberry juice, dumped my drink, poured dressing on my pants, dumped soda all over the place and generally made a mess. I don't know how it happened. Boy-o-boy.
