Erik's Journal

Date: October 30th 2002

Geography: Montreal, Quebec.

Point form day: Up early and off to radio interview -hopped a ride with bizarre cabbie - had breakfast at the hotel - had a media reception at the Delta -presented a dancer with a wheelchair and watched her perform -went to a day care and handed out balloons -helped to serve lunch at a local soup kitchen -filmed with Global - walked to McGill to hand out flowers and water bottles and ended up stripping on the street to help raise funds for the swim team to go to South Africa -ran into old girlfriend from Tofino - ate lunch -cabbed to Montreal city hall to sign the golden book -walked old Montreal with Sandy and found costumes -attending opening of the art show -had a fantastic talk with Louise -had dinner -stayed up working on the computer until 2:00am.

Highlight of the day: Most defiantly stripping on the street to help raise money for the McGill Varsity swim team. They were all standing on the street in their swimsuits freezing in the streets (temperature? -4degrees! Wow!) They were so stoked when we stripped off our cloths, (all except undies) and started collecting money. People on the street didn't know what to think but they gave us money. Everyone was shivering but laughing.

Most inspiring moment: My talk with Louise really inspired me. She is living a life that keys into passions that I have had for a long time (art and travel). I get stoked when I see someone living a successful life producing beauty.

Shout outs: Louise, you inspire me. Rob from global. Thanks for hyping us up in Montreal.

Classic quote: "I am proud to know you and proud that you are Canadians." - Marcel Parent, President du conseil for Montreal.

My crux: Sensory overload. There are too many amazing things happening in this city and not enough time to do them in.

Physically speaking: Sick? Maybe.

Mental stimulation: The art show put on by the Delta hotel. It was Montreal's first Asian Canadian Women art exhibition. There was some beautiful art and some interesting people. I love art shows.

Big laughs: Walking in the costume shop with an artificial severed hand in place of my real hand. The possibilities are endless.

When I finished writing this I was: Listening to a mix CD my brother Carl made for me.
