Erik's Journal - September 25, 2002
Geography: Saskatoon and
beyond……
Point form day: Up at 7:50 –had a massage
–picked carrots from the garden –left
for an organic farm -drove a tractor –fixed a
barn –harvested hay –had the best lunch
I have had in months –went to a local
elementary school –played on the playground
(I felt like Gulliver in the land of Lilliput, I
had no chance. –spoke at an assembly
-departed from Saskatoon –On a whim we
decided to explore a random and out of place hill
on the way to Regina –Climbed what appeared
to be a ski hill an checked out Saskatchewan from
above –proceeded on to Regina under the
setting sunlight.
Highlight of the day: Several. Driving and surfing
on top of a hay swather. Being tackled but dozens
of laughing screaming kids. Seeing the province
from above on top of a man made ski hill in the
middle of the prairies.
Most inspiring moment: On the hill contemplating
and being rushed with the intense sensation of pure
joy. I couldn’t help but laugh.
Shout outs: The Drew family. Thank you for taking
us in and letting us do some work on the farm. You
are fantastic people. (P.S. that was one of the
best lunches I’ve ever had)
Classic Quote: “Are you kidding! Treehorn
could take down 10 of those things and still come
up for air” –Kelly’s response to
Val. After seeing thousands and thousands of birds
flying overhead Val warned Kelly to hide Treehorn
(Kelly’s favorite stuffed animal) lest the
birds take him away.
My Crux: It’s tough to be sensitive to the
way the group members feel at any given time.
Physically Speaking: O.K. Not good, Not Bad. Just
O.K. I’m eating well just perhaps a little
much.
Mental Stimulation: I downloaded some Miles Davis
(the silent way sessions) and am grooving on
that.
Big Laughs: Having kids enact RAK’s in front
of the school and while one kid was pretending to
clean the toilet Chris pretended to climb out of
it.
When I finished writing this I was: Listening to
great music and traveling backwards at 102
km/h. |
