Extreme Kindness

Erik's Journal - September 12, 2002

Geography: Calgary, Alb.

Point form day: Up early, met up with the CBC, went downtown, gave out RAK sticky notes, danced with people, had people signing cards to give out randomly in New York, took pictures with the Calgary Herald, met with Mike Baker, networked and transferred info between computers, worked out, bed.

Highlight of the day: Hanging in the sun doing our own special breed of RAK. It’s nice to get back to that every now and then. It seems so creative and organic.

Most inspiring moment: Being recognized and well received so often throughout the day.
Shout outs: The CBC French reporter who shunned other stories to film with us and came out on the second day even though she was sick, The cab driver from Nigeria who gave us a ride home. You are an interesting and wonderful guy.

Classic Quote: “ Now I’m gonna tell you the truth, …..” The exclamation of our cabdriver preceding his stating of opinion on any particular subject.

My Crux: I was frustrated I couldn’t have spent more than 5 minutes with my friend Tara. We were so busy I just couldn’t.

Physically Speaking: I think I am eating too much meat. I suppose Alberta will do that to you. My stomach has been feeling a little queasy.

Mental Stimulation: I learned some computer skills.

Big Laughs: When Chris had a random woman write a randomly kind thing on a sticky note and she, by chance, happened to address it to Robert (the name of her boyfriend). Chris took the note down the street and randomly handed the note to a construction worker. The guy was beyond stunned. At first we thought it was because he wasn’t expecting the note but soon found out that his name was Robert. Very bizarre, no?

When I finished writing this I was: In a hotel room in Red Deer.
