Extreme Kindness

Erik's Journal - September 19, 2002

Geography: In transit towards a bison farm in central Alberta.

Point form day: Up at 7:00, went up to the roof, watched the sunrise, had a radio interview, did yoga, typed on the computer, went back to bed, breakfast, did laundry, worked out, met with Jon Bratseth (our new road manager), met with Millen a friend from Victoria and departed for his parents Bison ranch, arrived at the ranch and herded Bison and Elk in his truck, went for lunch at a local diner, watched Dances with Wolves, Took in the sunset through the back window of the RV as we headed in the exact opposite direction. Due east.

Highlight of the day: Hanging on the outside of the truck going 50km/h with Chris, Val and Brad, as we followed a heard of Bison. We also followed Elk through a forest of birch trees.

Most inspiring moment: Just having a great time with my friends. Knowing that we have two and a half more months of adventure.

Shout outs: Thanks Millen, that was an experience of a lifetime. Jon, dude, it’s great to have you on board.

Classic Quote: “I’ll have the salad with a vinaigrette” –my request for a side salad at the local small town diner. When the salad came out it was a plain salad and the server handed me the bottle of vinegar.

My Crux: I’m a little sleepy and missing home a tiny bit.

Physically Speaking: I am on the road to physical fitness. Feeling good.

Mental Stimulation: Not too much. I don’t feel like I have a lot to say.

Big Laughs: Chris and I fighting with real antlers attached to our heads was pretty funny.

When I finished writing this I was: Feeling like curling up and sleeping.
